SPEAKING

BRING THE PRODUCER MINDSET INTO THE ROOM.

Creativity isn’t limited to creative jobs.

Every organization has people with skills, ideas and abilities that extend far beyond what’s written in their job descriptions.

The challenge is getting them to recognize it.

Q. Lewis brings the Think Like a Producer philosophy to conferences, companies, creative organizations and professional-development spaces through engaging talks built around one simple idea:

The skills you already have may be capable of producing more than you think.

MORE THAN MOTIVATION.

I don’t want an audience to leave inspired for 20 minutes.

I want them to leave looking at themselves differently.

My talks combine storytelling, humor, lessons from more than a decade of producing and practical ideas people can apply to their careers immediately.

We talk about creativity.

We talk about problem-solving.

We talk about relationships.

We talk about transferable skills.

We talk about recognizing opportunities hiding inside the work you’re already doing.

And most importantly, we ask:

WHAT ELSE CAN I PRODUCE WITH WHAT I ALREADY KNOW?

SIGNATURE TALK

THINK LIKE A PRODUCER:

Turning Creative Skills Into Career Capital

What happens when the skills you developed doing one thing become valuable somewhere completely different?

That’s exactly what happened to me.

The abilities I developed producing podcasts—communication, organization, storytelling, relationship-building, problem-solving, adaptability and getting things across the finish line—eventually became valuable far beyond podcasting.

That’s when I realized something:

Creative skills don’t have to stay in creative spaces.

In this session, I show audiences how to identify the transferable skills hiding inside their experiences and begin thinking about those abilities as career capital.

Participants explore how to:

SEE opportunities others may overlook.

CONNECT people, ideas and resources.

SOLVE problems instead of simply identifying them.

CREATE something valuable from what they already have.

DELIVER ideas and turn them into outcomes.

The goal isn’t to turn everyone into a podcast producer.

It’s to teach people how to think like one.

WHAT AUDIENCES TAKE WITH THEM

A NEW WAY TO SEE THEIR SKILLS

Participants begin separating their abilities from their job titles and identifying where those skills may create value elsewhere.

A PRODUCER’S APPROACH TO PROBLEMS

Instead of asking only, “What’s wrong?” we begin asking:

“What can I produce from what I have?”

A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF CAREER CAPITAL

Experience isn’t valuable only because of what you’ve done.

It’s valuable because of what your experience has taught you how to do.

A MINDSET BUILT FOR CHANGE

Industries change.

Technology changes.

Jobs change.

But the ability to learn, adapt, connect, solve and create travels with you.

MEET Q. LEWIS

Producer. Author. Multimedia Professional. Speaker.

Q. Lewis has spent more than a decade producing stories, conversations, brands and ideas.

With more than 1,500 podcast episodes produced, his journey has taken him from producing independently in his parents’ attic in Detroit to building podcast brands, working in corporate multimedia production, writing books and speaking about the professional value hidden inside creative skills.

Along the way, Q. discovered that the skills responsible for his success behind the microphone were becoming equally valuable when the microphone wasn’t there.

That discovery became Think Like a Producer.

Today, he uses his experience to challenge audiences to stop defining their potential solely by their titles—and start recognizing what their skills are capable of producing.
